FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING CLASSES
Members of the Fire Department are training area business employees in the proper techniques and use of portable fire extinguishers. The class involves video demonstrations and outside hands on training with live pan fire extinguishments. Contact the Bureau of Fire Prevention at (847) 945-4066 or Contact Us for more information and/or to schedule a training session.
BUSINESS EVACUATION AND DISASTER PLANNING
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is involved with the local businesses and corporations in disaster planning and evacuation drills for their employee's. We review their plans semi-annually and help conduct their practice fire drills.
BURN AWARENESS ACTIVITIES
The first week of February is nationally recognized as Burn Awareness Week.
During National Burn Awareness Week the Fire Department members visit all fourth and fifth grade class rooms within the Fire District. The children are instructed in general fire and burn prevention in the home. A video tape is shown introducing them to common everyday items and situations that can produce serious burn injuries. Each student is given a Burn Injury Prevention Check List and Children's Burn Awareness Program pamphlet. National Burn Awareness Week posters are posted in all schools and municipal buildings within the Fire District.
BLOOD PRESSURES
The Fire Department offers blood pressure checks weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
